Brown County Warrant RecordsBrown County Warrant Records

A missed court date on a ticket can turn into a warrant, so start with the paper you were handed. Pull out the citation and figure out whether your Brown County matter runs through the county court or the town process in Nashville. Nobody publishes a dedicated list of Brown County traffic warrants. To verify one, you work a short chain: the public case record, the Clerk, town contacts, and the Sheriff. The court that issued the warrant is the office that can tell you how to resolve it, and its instructions are the ones that count.

How Traffic Warrants Work in Brown County

A ticket by itself is not a warrant. Brown County's local bond rule treats infractions as civil matters that call for no arrest and no bond. Skip a required appearance, though, or ignore a court order, and the docket grows a separate event. A judge can then issue a bench warrant or a warrant for arrest after a failure to appear, when the law and the case support it. Only the actual court file settles the question of status. Venue comes first. The current Indiana court directory lists Brown Circuit Court as the one trial court for Brown County. Nashville runs its own ordinance and traffic-payment process, but the directory shows no separate Nashville court operating today. So a town payment balance tells you nothing about whether a Brown County traffic warrant exists, and an old "Traffic Court" ordinance title proves nothing about current warrant status.

Brown County Traffic Warrant Search Gap

Brown County publishes no official traffic-warrant list. There is no Nashville warrant portal, no mobile warrant app, and no warrant-only filter in MyCase. The Sheriff's site offers general contact details and a public-records form, not a name roster. A blank search proves nothing either way.

Local answer: Use the citation or cause number to find the venue, then confirm the court event with the Brown Clerk and service status with the Sheriff.

Indiana MyCase still helps as a case-search tool. It can surface eligible Brown Circuit Court cases, event chronologies, and public documents, within access limits. The judiciary warns plainly that MyCase is not a complete criminal history. Treat it as a case file, not an active-warrant registry.

Brown County Traffic Warrant Checks

Run a Brown County warrant check through every channel, anchored to your own citation or court file. Have the exact name spelling, date of birth, citation number, hearing date, and any cause number in hand. Staff may limit what they say. So ask where the matter is filed and what public event shows, rather than pressing for a legal opinion.

  1. Search Indiana MyCase by case number, citation number, or name, and narrow the court to Brown Circuit Court or code 07C01.
  2. For a town violation, call Nashville Town Hall at 812-988-5526 or Nashville Police at 812-988-0341 to identify the current venue.
  3. Call the Brown County Clerk at 812-988-5510 to confirm eligible public events in a Brown court file.
  4. If service or surrender is possible, call the Brown County Sheriff at 812-988-6655 before appearing and speak with counsel.

Check the court file in person at the Clerk's counter, 20 E Main Street in Nashville, during published weekday hours. The Sheriff and Jail sit elsewhere, at 55 State Road 46 E. Different building, different job.

Brown County Traffic Warrant Search Fields

MyCase gives you two entry points: Case and Name. The Case tab takes a case number, citation number, or cross-reference number. The Name tab starts with a last name or business name and can add a first name, middle name, date of birth, and a sounds-like option. Court, status, and filing-date filters trim a long list.

ChannelUseful fieldsLimit

MyCase Name tabLast and first name, middle name, date of birthWildcard and sounds-like controls cannot always be combined

The search-tips page caps a broad query at 1,000 results. A citation or cause number beats a common name as an anchor. Even so, when the warrant question turns on the newest order, only a direct Brown County Clerk confirmation settles it.

Traffic Warrants: What They Show

Brown County has no standalone traffic-warrant results screen. The same fields surface across a citation, a MyCase case header, the chronology, and an order. Read the identifiers, venue, case type, hearing history, and latest judicial action as one picture. A payment entry alone does not show a recall.

Case or Citation NumberThe principal search key, sometimes connected to Brown Circuit Court code 07C01.
Case TypeIF for an infraction, OV for an ordinance violation, CM for a misdemeanor, or another filed category.
Issuing CourtBrown Circuit Court when filed there; a Nashville town matter needs current venue confirmation.
ChronologyDates for filing, settings, nonappearance, orders, payment, recall, and disposition when public.
Amount or BondA fine, fee, or judicial bond term that must be verified before payment.
Current StatusOpen, closed, served, recalled, or another status supported by the latest official record.

Nashville Traffic Warrant Payment Route

The official Nashville ordinance page traces the town's traffic-court and ordinance-violations-bureau rules. It maps the Brown County town process well. It is not a warrant roster.

That is why a Nashville citation starts with town contacts. The instructions allow payment at the Town Clerk-Treasurer, by mail to Town Hall, or through the listed vendor. None of those routes answers the warrant question. Paying a balance does not prove a missed date produced no warrant.

Clearing a Brown County Traffic Warrant

A warrant is cleared by the authority that controls it. Finding a payment page is not the same thing. Depending on the order, resolution may take a reset, an appearance, payment, service and bond, or a judge-approved motion to recall or quash. The Brown County Clerk takes authorized court payments but cannot itself recall a warrant.

  1. Confirm the venue, cause number, latest public event, and exact warrant status.
  2. Ask the issuing authority whether payment, an appearance, a recall motion, service, or bond is required.
  3. Consult counsel before an in-person visit when arrest may occur, and follow the court's scheduled procedure.
  4. Keep the receipt and order, then confirm that the official docket or serving agency reflects the resolution.

Warning: A payment receipt does not by itself recall a warrant; obtain the court's written or docketed status confirmation.

Brown's official payment page sets the rules for bond. On an arrest warrant, bond is not accepted until the court has served the warrant. Weekday cash-bond payments go to the Clerk; after-hours cash or card goes to the Sheriff. Do not assume those arrest-warrant rules govern a civil infraction or a town balance.

Brown County Traffic Warrant Vendor Check

Brown County and the Town of Nashville run two separate payment systems, and mixing them causes real problems. On January 18, 2024, the county stopped taking personal checks and switched its credit-card vendor from PayGov.US to BridgePayment. Nashville's police page, though, still points to PayGov for town violations and routes payments through Indiana, Town of Nashville, and Town of Nashville–Violation. The town also posts the fees: one dollar online and three dollars by phone. Before sending any money, confirm the vendor, fee, payee, and jurisdiction with Town Hall, because the two official pages describe different setups. A receipt from the wrong system may not satisfy the court. Paying the town on a case already filed with the court can miss the judicial step entirely. Keep your citation and transaction receipt. Then ask whether an appearance is still set, and whether a judicial recall order is required to lift the Brown County warrant.

How Traffic Warrants Trigger License Holds

A traffic warrant, a failure to appear, and a license or registration hold are three different mechanisms in Brown County. Checking the court file is the way to see what has happened. The county publishes no public hold database, and Indiana runs no separate statewide warrant lookup of that kind here. So no hold should be inferred from a ticket balance or a missed appearance.

MechanismWhat the Brown sources supportHow to verify
Traffic warrantA judge's arrest order connected to a case or missed required appearanceIssuing court, Clerk, and Sheriff
Failure to appearA court event arising when a required setting is missed; it may lead to a warrantLatest case chronology and court order
License or registration holdNo Brown-specific public hold process documented in the researchAsk the relevant court and state agency about the exact citation

Clearing one mechanism does not update every related record on its own. Ask each Brown County office what written release, docket event, or agency update proves completion.

Brown County Traffic Warrant Court Codes

Indiana's access matrix uses short case-type codes that help route a Brown County search. IF marks an infraction. OV marks an ordinance violation, and CM a misdemeanor. Those labels only name the filed case category; they announce no warrant and say nothing about whether an order is still enforceable.

IF
An infraction case. Brown's local rule says infractions are civil and do not require arrest or bond, though a later court order must be checked separately.
OV
An ordinance-violation case. A Nashville matter may begin locally and needs venue confirmation.
CM
A criminal misdemeanor case, with procedures different from a civil infraction.
Bench warrant
A warrant issued by a court for arrest in a civil or criminal proceeding.

MyCase document availability varies by case type. Rule 5 protects sealed, juvenile, investigative, search-warrant, probation, expunged, and personal information. When the document is not online, the Brown County Clerk is the official local record counter.
